Bright Osayi-Samuel has signed a three-year contract with Birmingham City on July 4, 2025. The Nigerian international defender arrives at St Andrew’s on a free transfer after the end of his spell with Fenerbahçe in Turkey.

After leaving Fenerbahçe at the conclusion of his contract, Bright Osayi-Samuel opted to take on a new challenge in England. Birmingham City, freshly promoted to the Championship, officially unveiled the right-back this morning. The 27-year-old Nigerian becomes the club’s fifth summer signing.

Osayi-Samuel, who can operate both in defense and midfield, was won over by the ambitious project put forward by the board and head coach. According to him, the club’s ambitions perfectly aligned with his own, which played a decisive role in his decision to return to England.

“Last season, the club earned promotion and the ambition is not just to be competitive, but to push straight for the Premier League. That’s my ambition as well. I want to play in the Premier League and show everyone what I’m capable of, and I believe Birmingham City gives me the platform to do that,” Bright Osayi-Samuel said during his unveiling.

It’s worth noting that the Nigerian already boasts solid experience in England’s second tier. The former Fenerbahçe defender played in the Championship from 2018 to 2021 with Queens Park Rangers F.C.
