CAF to unveil new Champions League trophy soon
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will unveil, this Thursday, May 22, the brand-new Champions League trophy along with the competition’s modernized visual identity.
In an official statement released on its website, CAF announced that the new trophy presentation will take place in Johannesburg (South Africa), on the sidelines of the highly anticipated final between Mamelodi Sundowns and Pyramids FC. Numerous African football legends as well as representatives from both finalist clubs will be present for the occasion.
This initiative aims to add a symbolic and festive dimension to this major continental event. According to CAF, this change marks a new era for the competition.
The current trophy has been in use since 2007, the year Étoile Sportive du Sahel became the first club to lift it after their victory in the final against Al Ahly. Since then, the Cairo club has established itself as the most decorated side with this version, claiming seven titles, with the most recent coming in 2024.
CAF Champions League 2025 final schedule
First leg: Saturday, May 24 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium (13:00 GMT)
Second leg: Sunday, June 1 at 30 June Stadium (17:00 GMT)
TV broadcast and prize money
Both matches will be broadcast live on beIN Sports channels, the exclusive TV rights holder for the Middle East and North Africa.
The winning club will receive $4 million, while the runner-up will take home $2.5 million.
