Cameroon: Samuel Eto'o blamed for Fabrice Ondoa's absence

During a television broadcast, Cameroonian pundit Christian Mbongo accused Samuel Eto'o of being responsible for Fabrice Ondoa's exclusion from the national team for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Fabrice Ondoa is unfortunately not among the players called up by Marc Brys for the 5th and 6th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. This decision by the Belgian coach has been heavily criticized in the local press. Christian Mbongo didn't hold back when he needed to make his opinion public.

Recently on a show on Équinoxe TV, the Cameroonian pundit sees Samuel Eto'o behind Marc Brys's choice:

Brys should not politicize. He doesn't select Ondoa necessarily because of his affiliations with the president of Fecafoot. If he's not on the national team, it's because he's close to Samuel Eto'o. There's no logic.

It should be noted that the relationship between Marc Brys and Samuel Eto'o is no longer as tense as it was initially. The president of FECAFOOT had even taken some steps to ease tensions with the Belgian coach.
