CAN 2024 (F): Nigeria wary of Kundananji and Banda duo in Zambia's attack
Super Falcons - Nigeria

Justine Madugu, head coach of the Super Falcons, has identified Rachel Kundananji and Barbra Banda as Zambia's main threats. The two nations will clash this Friday in Casablanca for a spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 Women's AFCON.

After their last group match against Algeria (0-0), the Nigerian women's team now turns its focus to the quarter-finals. Super Falcons coach Justine Madugu is meticulously preparing for the battle against Zambia, scheduled for Friday, July 18 at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The primary threat comes from the attacking duo Racheal Kundananji and Barbra Banda, who have been electric throughout the group stage.

Barbra Banda, captain of the Zambian squad and reigning African Ballon d'Or winner, has netted three goals and provided one assist in three group stage matches. The Orlando Pride striker is renowned for her attacking prowess. Her partnership with Rachel Kundananji forms a formidable duo that powered Zambia to second place in Group A with 7 points. The Nigerians, nine-time Women's AFCON champions, are fully aware of the major challenge that awaits them against the Copper Queens.

"We have our strategy. We've studied them closely. We know what they're capable of. We're not too concerned about individual brilliance; it's a team game. We'll do our best to neutralize their strengths," Madugu said at the post-match press conference.

The Nigeria vs Zambia showdown promises high-intensity action at Larbi Zaouli Stadium. The Copper Queens have no intention of holding back against the most decorated team in the tournament's history.
