CHAN 2025: Kenya wins its first match against DR Congo!

Kenya kicked off its campaign in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) for local players on a high note, edging out the Democratic Republic of Congo 1-0 this Sunday in the opening match of Group A.

The only goal of the match came from midfielder Austin Odhiambo, who fired a brilliant left-footed strike in the dying seconds of the first half (47’), securing three crucial points for the Harambee Stars.

The clash unfolded at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium, with several notable figures in attendance, including Kenya’s President William Ruto, and the president of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe.

This victory is historic for Kenya, marking their very first win in the final stage of the CHAN.
