Despite an exceptional recruitment campaign, the Egyptian side Al Ahly was unable to qualify for the round of 16 at the Club World Cup.

Finishing last in their group, the Egyptian football giants missed the mark at the American showdown, much to the disappointment of their fans.

Al Ahly's group stage journey

The Egyptian champions were held to a goalless draw (0-0) by Inter Miami in their tournament opener.

They then suffered a 0-2 defeat to Palmeiras before conceding another draw to Porto (4-4).

How much will Al Ahly earn from the Club World Cup?

The Egyptian club will pocket a total of $11.5 million from their participation in the international competition—$9.5 million as a qualification bonus and an additional $2 million from two draws in the tournament.

Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, the standout performer

The Tunisian box-to-box midfielder was without a doubt the best player for Al Ahly at the Club World Cup. Scoring a stunning goal against Porto, Ben Romdhane impressed with his ability to cover both ends of the pitch.
