Co-top scorer Guirassy responds to his exclusion from the UEFA Champions League 2025 team of the season
Serhou Guirassy

Serhou Guirassy has spoken out about his absence from the 2024-2025 Champions League team of the season, despite being co-top scorer (13 goals). In an interview with Guinéenews, the Borussia Dortmund striker shared his confusion regarding this controversial decision.

The 29-year-old is currently spending his holidays in his home country, Guinea. During his stay, he sat down with the local media for an exclusive interview. In this conversation, the Guinean forward was asked about his exclusion from the 2024-2025 Champions League team of the season and other accolades.

To recap, the team of the season features Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal, a defense of Nuno Mendes, Marquinhos, Alessandro Bastoni, and Achraf Hakimi, a midfield with Vitinha and Declan Rice, and an attacking line composed of Lamine Yamal, Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, and Raphinha. Guirassy finished the competition with 13 goals, matching Barcelona's Raphinha, who did make the team. This tie at the top of the scoring charts makes the Dortmund striker's omission even more surprising.

"Sometimes, I ask myself questions. But as I often say, I do my job on the pitch. I think the work was done well. Now, those who select the team of the season, that's not up to me. I know what I've achieved, and honestly, I want to say that I don't care," said the Guinean.
