Cosafa Cup 2025: Comoros claim the bronze medal

On June 15, 2025, at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, Comoros secured the bronze medal at the Cosafa Cup with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar. The win was decided by a single goal from Ibroihim Youssouf in the 77th minute.

After falling short in the semi-final against South Africa, the Comorians faced Madagascar in a decisive Indian Ocean derby. Both teams, eliminated by Bafana Bafana (3-1) and Angola (4-1) respectively, were determined to finish the tournament on a high note.

A historic trophy for Comoros

The Comorian side struck at just the right moment. In the 77th minute, Ibroihim Youssouf, set up by Kassim Hadji, found the back of the net with a precise shot to release his team. Madagascar fought valiantly but couldn’t turn the tide. The Bareas pushed hard to equalize, but the Comoros defense held firm until the final whistle.

This bronze represents Comoros’ first-ever Cosafa Cup honor since their debut in 2008. Coach Stefano Cusin can proudly point to this achievement as a major milestone ahead of the upcoming AFCON.
