Egypt: Mostafa Mohamed reveals his childhood idols!

On April 9, the official FIFA website published an in-depth interview with Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed, currently at FC Nantes. In this interview, he discussed his ambitions, his dream of participating in the World Cup for the first time, as well as his impressions of his coach Hossam Hassan, teammates Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, and his idols in the world of football.

Mostafa Mohamed: "I hope to play, score, and win the World Cup."

The Egyptian striker shared his dream of playing in the World Cup: "We have confidence in ourselves. Our next match is against Ethiopia, then we will go to Burkina Faso. Insha'Allah, we will give everything we have. We only talk about the World Cup."

He added: “We must win to make the Egyptians happy. During our last participation in 2018, we were not at our best, and we did not participate in 2022. This time, we will give everything to qualify.”

“I want to go to the final. I want to win the World Cup. Sometimes you need a bit of luck, but it would be a great moment. For my first World Cup, I hope to play, score, and win the competition.”

The Nantes striker praises Hossam Hassan and talks about Salah and Marmoush

Regarding his national coach Hossam Hassan, Mostafa Mohamed confided: "My father always wanted me to meet Hossam Hassan, the best striker in Egypt’s history. I try to learn from him. He constantly gives me advice on what I should do, how to move, score, manage the ball in the box, and shoot. We exchange a lot."

He also praised his teammates Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush: "Mohamed Salah is a big star, and we are very lucky to have him with us. We can have confidence in our team with a legend like him. Marmoush is in very good form and we also have Mahmoud Trezeguet, who has played in England and Turkey, as well as Zizo. Our team is really solid."

About his role models in football, Mostafa Mohamed said: “There was Amr Zaki, a Zamalek player. He went to England to play with Wigan. He scored 10 goals in 10 matches (actually, 10 goals in his first 16 Premier League matches)! He was very strong with the national team too. When I was younger, I loved Mohamed Zidan. Outside of Egypt, I liked [Wayne] Rooney, [Didier] Drogba, and [Samuel] Eto’o.”
