Egyptian League: Al Ahly penalized after forfeiting against Zamalek!

The Egyptian Professional Clubs League announced on Saturday, March 15, its decisions regarding the top match between Al Ahly and its host Zamalek, counting for the first day of the playoffs phase of the Egyptian football championship.

The League decided to impose the following sanctions on the red club:

• Validation of the match result by considering Zamalek the winner with a score of 3-0, in accordance with article (4.17) of the competition regulations.
  
• Deduction of three additional points from Al Ahly, in addition to the points related to the match where it was declared the loser.
  
• Al Ahly will have to bear all losses resulting from the loss of revenue from commercial contracts, broadcasting rights, and all other expenses incurred before the forfeiture.

Al Ahly escalates and files a complaint with the Olympic Committee

In the same context, the reigning champion club Al Ahly announced in a statement published on its official website that it had filed a complaint with the Egyptian Football Federation and the Professional Clubs League regarding the top match crisis and its refusal to play the match without the appointment of a foreign refereeing body.

Al Ahly's statement reads:

"The club's Board of Directors, meeting today, decided to file a complaint with the Egyptian Olympic Committee against the Egyptian Football Federation and the Professional Clubs League concerning the measures taken in violation of the regulations regarding the top match (against Zamalek), and the organization of this match with Egyptian referees, contrary to the decision of the Professional Clubs League which stipulated the appointment of a foreign refereeing body to ensure fairness between all parties."
