Egyptian Veteran Goalkeeper Speaks Out: "Conscience Over Loyalty" as EFA Crisis Deepens

Veteran goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy's launched fierce attack on the Egyptian Football Association’s EFA appeals committee accusing it of twisting justice & manipulating the truth, following its controversial decision in the fallout of the postponed Zamalek vs Al Ahly clash from the opening round of the title group.
Rejected Appeals Spark Uproar
On Thursday the EFA’s appeals committee dismissed the appeals submitted by Zamalek, Al Ahly and Pyramids, declaring that the egyptian premier league’s ruling on the matter was final and non negotiable.
The move angered all 3 clubs involved.
- Zamalek vowed to take its case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS insisting that Al Ahly’s no show constituted full withdrawal and should result in 6 point deduction under league rules.
- Al Ahly referred the issue to its legal department for review.
- Pyramids also revealed plans to file its own complaint to CAS, citing direct damage to its league title ambitions.
Ekramy: "A Distorted Decision"
Without holding back, Ekramy published scathing statement on X describing the ruling as "distorted" calling the situation "conscious & deliberate fraud"
"This decision doesn’t need expert to spot its flaws. The loopholes in the regulation are obvious. The scene's clear , there’s no room for sugarcoating” Ekramy wrote.
He accused unnamed parties of accepting injustice when it serves their interests, warning of dangerous culture forming within egyptian football.
"Truth Can’t Be Buried"
Ekramy went on:
"When people justify injustice because it benefits them, they expose the contradiction between their values and their actions. Justification never erases the truth , sometimes it exposes it even more”
He criticized attempts to deflect the issue by attacking those who question the ruling:
"As usual, the focus will shift from the flawed decision to discrediting dissenting voices. Suddenly the problem isn’t the decision , it’s those who oppose it"
Final Word: "Conscience Over Loyalty"
Ekramy ended his post with powerful message:
“I fully respect those who choose their conscience over loyalty. Truth isn’t hidden because people forget it , it’s hidden because they’re afraid to pay the price”
As tensions escalate, this latest outburst adds fuel to an already blazing controversy that could shake egyptian football's credibility at the highest levels.
