El Hilali Responds to Barça Rumors and Dreams of the Atlas Lions!
The young Moroccan full-back, Omar El Hilali, currently playing for Espanyol, has reacted to the rumors circulating in recent days about a potential move to FC Barcelona during the upcoming summer transfer window.
In an interview with the Catalan magazine Mundo Deportivo, El Hilali addressed the question regarding the truth of the rumors about him and the offers he might have received since his formative years: "I heard about this news from my friends who sent it to me... But I haven't received anything concrete about it," he stated.
He added, "I haven't had any further information on the other circulating rumors... Everything concerning me, my agents are tasked with evaluating. That's their job... And depending on what happens, everything will be settled in due time."
El Hilali Expresses His Desire to Play with the Atlas Lions
The Moroccan defender, who has established himself as one of Espanyol's mainstays this season, also expressed his immense pride and desire to join the national team if called up during the next international break.
"I have a great desire to wear the national team's jersey... It's an immense honor," he revealed. "If I'm called up, I'll be one of the happiest people in the world."
Regarding his position on the field, he clarified: "It's certain that two of the best right-backs in the world currently play in my position. So, they might place me as a center-back or winger."
And he concluded with a smile: "It's true that two of the world's best right-backs occupy my position (Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui)... Maybe they could place me in central defense or as a winger (laughs)."
