England: Newcastle sign Bazoumana Touré
It's official! Bazoumana Touré continues his meteoric rise by joining Newcastle United. The 20-year-old Ivorian international winger leaves Hoffenheim and commits to the Magpies on a long-term deal, with the transfer fee estimated at €50 million.
Newcastle have confirmed the signing of Bazoumana Touré from Hoffenheim for a reported €50 million, setting a historic record for the German club.
The young Ivorian becomes the Magpies' second signing of the summer following French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen. After featuring at the World Cup with Ivory Coast, where he played in three matches, Touré will now experience the Premier League.
Upon his arrival, the player did not hide his excitement:
"I am very happy to be here. Since I was a child, I dreamed of playing in the Premier League for a great club like Newcastle. I will give everything for this shirt."
Eddie Howe impressed by his potential
Manager Eddie Howe welcomed the arrival of a player who can bring a different profile to his squad.
"Bazoumana has proven his quality in the Bundesliga and with the Ivorian national team. We believe he has huge potential and we are eager to help him reach the next level," explained the English coach.
Sporting director Ross Wilson also highlighted the player's youth, ambition, and room for development, while thanking Hoffenheim for the smooth negotiations.
A meteoric rise
Trained at ASEC Mimosas, Bazoumana Touré then made a name for himself at Hammarby IF in Sweden before joining Hoffenheim in February 2025. In Germany, he played 45 matches, scoring 5 goals and providing 9 assists last season, helping the club qualify for the Europa League.
With this €50 million transfer, Bazoumana Touré becomes the second most expensive Ivorian player in history, behind Nicolas Pépé (€80m) and tied with Sébastien Haller. He now moves ahead of Didier Drogba (€38.5m) and Eric Bailly (€38m).
