It's a big day in Africa with the return leg matches of the CAF Champions League 2024-2025 quarterfinals taking place.

Foot Africa sought the opinion of former Tunisian international, Khaled Melliti, who kindly shared his picks for the favorites in Africa's premier competition.

Espérance de Tunis vs Mamelodi Sundowns (0-1 in the first leg)

I believe the Tunisian football representative is the favorite to reach the CAF Champions League semifinals, even though their task won't be easy against a very tough opponent who knows how to control the ball thanks to the exceptional technique of its players. The match will come down to details, and Espérance's experience will help them overcome this formidable challenge.

AS FAR vs Pyramids (1-4 in the first leg)

In my opinion, the Egyptian club has taken a big step towards qualifying for the semifinals, especially since they are significantly superior to their Moroccan counterparts tactically. I don't think AS FAR is capable of a comeback due to their defensive limitations that have been a liability throughout the 2024-2025 season.

Orlando Pirates vs MC Alger (1-0 in the first leg)

There's really no contest between the two clubs; Orlando Pirates have shown great promise in this 2024-2025 edition of the CAF Champions League and are emerging as the strong favorites for the final crown. Meanwhile, MC Alger lacks offensive firepower and needs a miracle to turn the tide against their South African opponents.

Al Hilal vs Al Ahly (0-1 in the first leg)

The Sudanese club has been one of the standout teams in this new edition of the Champions League, shining with its defensive solidity and tactical maturity. Unfortunately for them, they face a very experienced Al Ahly team that knows how to handle these types of matches. Therefore, I find it hard to see them eliminating the defending champions in the quarterfinals.
