Fabrizio Romano reveals Real Madrid's stance on Konaté

French international Ibrahima Konaté (26) once again finds himself at the heart of transfer market speculation. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has unveiled fresh details regarding the Liverpool defender's future, as Real Madrid shows a keen interest in his profile.

Real Madrid puts talks with Konaté on hold

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Madrid club decided to suspend its contacts with the player's entourage at the end of last year, opting for now to closely monitor the evolution of his contract situation with Liverpool.

Under contract with the Reds until the summer of 2026, Konaté has yet to reach an agreement with the English club's management on a renewal. This uncertainty casts doubt over his future and paves the way for several scenarios in the coming months.

Romano also reports that Real Madrid continues to keep a close eye on the situation and could reignite their pursuit in the upcoming summer transfer window, particularly if negotiations between the player and Liverpool break down.

On their end, Liverpool are eager to secure the future of their French defender as quickly as possible to avoid losing such a key squad member on a free transfer—a scenario that previously unfolded with right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
