The fallout from the scrapped investment project
Infantino has been engulfed in a massive political storm over the past few days. The backlash stems from his controversial proposal to sell minority stakes in FIFA's commercial rights to external private investors who would have gained oversight over major tournaments such as the World Cup.

Furthermore, according to sports journalist Ben Jacobs, Infantino has reportedly sought political backing from figures within Donald Trump's administration in the United States, attempting to secure high level support for his continuation in office.
The global power struggle
Despite the European and North American rebellion, ousting the president remains mathematically complex. UEFA possesses 55 votes but a successful vote of no confidence requires a majority of 106 votes from FIFA's 211 member associations.
European nations cannot remove Infantino without significant defection from other global regions.
Currently, Infantino continues to enjoy robust backing from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Additionally, national associations from countries such as Qatar and Sri Lanka have publicly reaffirmed their support for the Swiss official even as the broader Asian Football Confederation expressed concerns over his initial commercial plans.
A deepening political divide
The current crisis has exposed a massive political rift within international football. Infantino's strategy of relying on the numerical superiority of African and Asian federations is now clashing directly with the financial and historical weight of Europe and North America.
While UEFA & CONCACAF have successfully killed the private equity project, completely removing a sitting FIFA President who still commands the loyalty of CAF will require an aggressive, highly coordinated global political campaign.

Infantino and his inner circle are currently conducting a comprehensive assessment of his global support to determine if he has the numbers to survive the ongoing rebellion.
If UEFA and CONCACAF can successfully lobby enough member associations from other continents to reach the 106 vote threshold, an Extraordinary FIFA Congress could be triggered to formally push for a vote of no confidence.
