FIFA window June 2026: Amir Abdou to announce Burkina Faso squad this Tuesday
Amir Abdou will unveil his squad for the June FIFA matches on Tuesday, May 19 at 10 a.m. Burkina Faso’s Stallions are set to face Russia and Belarus in two friendly encounters—crucial tests ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the draw for the tournament taking place the same day at 12 p.m. GMT in Cairo.
The announcement is eagerly awaited, with anticipation mounting over the potential inclusion of several dual-nationality players.
Following a European scouting trip in early May, the coach succeeded in convincing Arthur Zagre (Excelsior Rotterdam’s left-back) and Rachid Kouda (Mantova’s midfielder) to pledge their allegiance to Burkina Faso. Amir Abdou also met with other talents such as Issan Ouédraogo, Mohamed Ali Zouma, and more.
The objective is clear: to expand the squad list and prepare as thoroughly as possible for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The squad will be officially announced on Tuesday at 10 a.m. during a press conference.
