Fluminense wants Ronaldo, Jorge Mendes ends speculation
As Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr nears its end, set for June 30, fresh rumors are swirling about a Brazilian club’s interest in signing him. The Portuguese striker, who joined on a free transfer from Manchester United in January 2023, could be on the verge of yet another dramatic twist in his storied career.
Jorge Mendes shuts down rumors: Ronaldo is not going to Brazil
Fluminense president Mário Bittencourt recently revealed on the local podcast Setor Sul that he held serious talks with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, hoping to bring the superstar in on loan to strengthen the squad for this summer’s Club World Cup in the United States. However, the answer was unequivocal: “Brazil is not part of his plans at the moment.”
Bittencourt added: “I pressed him, reminding him that Fluminense wears the colors of the Portuguese flag, which would have thrilled our supporters, but Ronaldo isn’t interested.”
On the pitch, the 40-year-old legend continues to amaze. Last Wednesday, he netted the decisive goal in Portugal’s 2-1 win over Germany in the Nations League semi-final, sending his team through to the final against the winner of France vs. Spain.
