The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will travel to Egypt 8 days before the start of the 2025 U 20 Africa Cup of Nations as part of their final preparations for the tournament. The competition's scheduled from 27 Apr to 18 May with the top 4 teams qualifying for the FIFA U 20 World Cup in Chile later this year.

Tough group stage ahead

Following reshuffle of the groups after Côte d’Ivoire withdrew as hosts, Nigeria now finds itself in Group B alongside Tunisia, Kenya and Morocco a pool many have dubbed the “Group of Death”

Nigeria’s U20 coach, Aliyu Zubairu remains calm despite the challenge:

“There's no pressure of any kind. All we're doing is keeping focus to achieve our first target which is to get the ticket to the World Cup” he told Soccernet.ng.

Seven time champions aim high

Nigeria a record 7 time U 20 AFCON winner, recently concluded 3 week training camp in Katsina and will complete their final preparations in egypt. The team'll aim to repeat their 2023 feat where they defeated Tunisia to claim third place also on egyptian soil.

AFCON U20 2025 Groups

  • Group A: Egypt, Zambia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania
  • Group B: Nigeria, Tunisia, Kenya, Morocco
  • Group C: Senegal, DR Congo, Ghana, Central African Republic

The top 4 teams will represent Africa at the U20 World Cup in Chile, slated for 27 Sep to 19 Oct.
