French national team: Zinédine Zidane, Jean-Michel Aulas slams the FFF

The vice-president of the French Football Federation, Jean-Michel Aulas, was not pleased with the FFF's lack of communication during the process of appointing Zinédine Zidane as head coach of the French national team.

On social media, the former Olympique Lyonnais boss made his frustration known. "The French national team will have a new head coach starting next Tuesday. Philippe Diallo handled this matter with professionalism to prepare our national team's future. However, I am surprised by the leaks from this COMEX, which is made up of many responsible members. As for the appointment of the next manager, I would have preferred a more closely coordinated consultation. Such an approach might have better protected the confidentiality of our discussions and safeguarded our institution. This is, in fact, the method that has already been used for several sensitive issues," said JMA.

"How could discussions strictly reserved for COMEX members end up in the media? A federation can only function smoothly if trust among its members is fully respected. The confidentiality of our exchanges is part of that. I had a long conversation with Philippe Diallo yesterday afternoon and we were able to calmly discuss the situation. Above all, I am very pleased that the French Football Federation can count, after the extraordinary era under Didier Deschamps, on an exceptional figure to write a new chapter in the history of Les Bleus. I will be delighted to see him again and support him in this new adventure," Aulas concluded.
