From Hero to Booed: Klopp Defends Trent Amid Anfield Backlash
Jurgen Klopp's publicly criticized Liverpool fans for jeering Trent Alexander Arnold who's set to leave the club this summer after 20 year of service.
Klopp Turns Off TV in Disgust
The former Reds manager said he switched off his television after hearing boos from the Anfield crowd during the match against Arsenal where Trent was brought on as substitute.
"I thought my hearing was failing me. I turned up the volume and 10 second later, I switched it off. I was deeply disappointed. That’s not who we are" Klopp said during charity event on Friday.
A Loyal Servant to the Badge
Alexander Arnold who joined Liverpool at age six in 2004, has made 353 appearances for the first team and helped the club win the PL, Champions League and Club World Cup under Klopp.
"This Club Doesn’t Forget" – Klopp
Klopp held up Liverpool shirt bearing Trent’s name as sign of support and urged fans to remember what the local born fullback gave to the club.
"He gave everything for this badge every single day. If anyone should be blamed for his departure, it’s not him. It’s the owners but even that’s not fair" Klopp stated.
The German coach's expected to attend Liverpool’s final home game against Crystal Palace on Sunday as the reds celebrate their league title.
