Gareth Bale attempts to buy Cardiff City

Gareth Bale wants to invest in his boyhood club. The former Welsh international, leading a group of investors, has made a bid to buy Cardiff City.

According to The Times, the offer is estimated at £40 million (around €47 million). Born in Cardiff, Gareth Bale hoped to take the reins of the club where he grew up. However, despite the seriousness of the proposal, current owner Vincent Tan is expected to reject the offer.

Malaysian businessman Vincent Tan has been at the helm of the club since 2010. He has already suggested he is open to a sale, but appears to consider the offer insufficient. So far, there has been no official response from the Welsh club, but Gareth Bale's initiative is a clear sign of his growing interest in football off the pitch, having hung up his boots in January 2023.
