Good news for Morocco ahead of the 2026 World Cup
According to information from the French outlet Foot Mercato, Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd is set to participate in the 2026 World Cup with the Atlas Lions, despite recent doubts surrounding his physical condition in recent weeks.
Encouraging updates for Aguerd
The Olympique de Marseille defender was forced to step away from the pitch due to a muscle injury. He then returned to Morocco to continue his treatment and rehabilitation program in preparation for the World Cup.
The same source notes that national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi continues to view Aguerd as an essential pillar of Morocco's defense and is expected to officially call him up for the tournament soon.
Absent from the last two friendlies against Ecuador and Paraguay, the Moroccan defender was replaced by Chadi Riad, Issa Diop, and Redouane Halhal in the selections made by Walid Regragui’s successor.
