How many points will the DRC need to qualify for the 2026 World Cup?

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) appears more determined than ever to return to participating in the World Cup.

They have not taken part in the global tournament since the 1974 edition held in West Germany.

Leading their Group B with 13 points, the two-time African champions need 12 points to qualify without worrying about other matches.

That said, 9 points could be sufficient if they win against Senegal and Sudan in the 8th and 10th matchdays respectively.

With a plethora of highly talented players, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) seems well-equipped this time to finally break the jinx.

In any case, the two September matches against South Sudan and Senegal will be decisive. A potential clean sweep would allow the Leopards to take a serious step towards World Cup qualification.
