The head coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sébastien Desabre, did not hold back in criticizing the absentees from this June international break.

He openly criticized the players who chose to skip the two friendlies against Mali and Madagascar, scheduled for June 5 and 8 respectively.

Love for the Congolese shirt comes before footballing ability. If I don't sense extreme motivation, I won't call them up. We're balancing the rejuvenation of the squad with the experience of our senior players to achieve our short- and medium-term goals.

A dig at Bissaka and Ngal’ayel Mukau

Although named in the new "Leopards" squad, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Ngal'ayel Mukau didn't bother to join up with the team.
