After 18 months of waiting, Ernest Nuamah found the back of the net again in Ligue 1. The Ghanaian winger impressed for Olympique Lyonnais against Auxerre, scoring a goal and providing an assist as he returned to the forefront following a serious knee injury.

Ernest Nuamah was one of the key figures in Lyon’s performance. The Ghanaian first contributed to the team’s attack with an assist before getting on the scoresheet himself to net Lyon’s third goal.

The two-goal contribution rewards his gradual return to competitive action. His previous Ligue 1 goal had come in March 2025.

18 months later, Nuamah is smiling again

The Lyon winger’s recent career had been disrupted by a serious setback. In April 2025, Ernest Nuamah suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear, keeping him out of action for an extended period.

Eighteen months after his last league goal, he has now found the net again in Ligue 1. And he did so in style, with a goal, an assist and an impressive attacking performance.

Statistics underline his influence

During his 67 minutes on the pitch, Nuamah completed 3 of his 4 dribbles and made five progressive runs. No other player completed more dribbles during the time he was on the pitch.

With this latest contribution, the Ghanaian now has 15 goal contributions for Lyon: 10 goals and five assists in 77 appearances across all competitions. He has been directly involved in a goal every 267 minutes on average.

The performance is an encouraging sign for Nuamah. After a lengthy spell on the sidelines because of his injury, the Ghana international is gradually rediscovering his confidence, rhythm and attacking efficiency.
