Mercato: Ilaix Moriba makes permanent move to Celta Vigo
After several seasons marked by instability, Ilaix Moriba finally seems to have found a place to call home. On Sunday, June 15, 2025, Celta Vigo officially announced the permanent signing of the Guinean midfielder from RB Leipzig, triggering the €6 million buy option.
Trained at FC Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, Moriba has committed his future to the Galician side until June 2029.
This transfer is a reward for a standout season by the 22-year-old, who was loaned to Celta for the 2024-2025 campaign. A regular starter, he established himself as a key component in the team’s system, playing a pivotal role in securing a seventh-place finish in La Liga.
Celta sign Moriba on a permanent deal
In a statement released on their social media channels, the club declared: "Ilaix is now at home. After a lot of effort from all parties, we are delighted to announce the activation of his buy option. A new contract until 2029... Let’s keep dreaming together."
Moriba joined Leipzig in 2021 for €16 million but never truly found his feet in the Bundesliga. Following loan spells at Valencia and Getafe, he struggled to make an impact—until his stint in Vigo. Wearing Celta’s colors, he finally rediscovered his form and lived up to the promise he showed at the start of his career.
