Mido: "If Al Ahly had played the derby, they would have lost!"
Ahmed Hossam "Mido", a member of Zamalek's planning committee, made bold statements that could spark numerous reactions among the supporters of Al Ahly and Zamalek.
Speaking on the Zamalek channel, Mido stated that he would have preferred Al Ahly to come to the Cairo International Stadium and not boycott the Cairo derby.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Egyptian national team star said: “I would have wished for Al Ahly to come to the Cairo Stadium and play the supremacy match, because if they had played, they would have lost.”
He added: “We did not request the appointment of an Egyptian referee for the top match, but we simply informed the Federation that Zamalek only demands fair officiating.”
Mido also claimed: "I have reliable and quantified statistics that prove Zamalek is the most popular Egyptian club in the Gulf countries, with a wide lead over other clubs."
The search for a foreign technical director
Moreover, Mido revealed that the planning committee is seeking to recruit a foreign technical director with the highest qualifications and extensive experience in training centers and youth teams.
He also emphasized his integrity and dedication in his work with the white club, stating: "We work within the planning committee in collaboration with Hazem Emam. We did not join to serve personal interests or take control of Zamalek, but solely to serve the club and defend its interests."
