The dream's alive for Morocco’s U20 national team as the Atlas Cubs booked their place in the FIFA U20 World Cup final for 1st time in history after dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout win over France on Tuesday night.

After tense 120 minute that ended 1-1, it was Yassir Zabiri’s composed penalty that sealed Morocco’s place in the final.

Road to the Final: A Historic Journey

Morocco’s campaign has been nothing short of spectacular:

  • Group Stage: Topped group containing Brazil, Spain and Mexico with 6 point.
  • Round of 16: Defeated South Korea 2-1
  • Quarter final: Outclassed USA 3-1
  • Semi final: Beat France on penalties (5-4) after 1-1 draw.

Yassir Zabiri gave Morocco the lead in the 32 minute from the penalty spot after VAR review before Lucas Michel equalised for France in the 59 minute.

The score remained level through regular and extra time sending the clash to penalties where the Atlas Cubs held their nerve.

Eyes on the Final

Morocco will now face the winner of 2nd semi final between Argentina & Colombia in the final on Monday 19 October (11:00 GMT).
