Osmajic accused of racism towards Mejbri, the FA hits hard!
The English Football Association (FA) has issued a statement accusing Preston striker Milutin Osmajic of making racist and insulting remarks towards Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.
In this statement, the FA specifies that Osmajic violated the rules of the game by adopting inappropriate behavior and using offensive language towards an opposing player, in violation of article "E3.1".
The Montenegrin player now has eight days, until March 25, to respond before a final decision is made.
Racist insults against Hannibal Mejbri!
This incident dates back to the Championship match between the two teams last month, during which the "Eagles of Carthage" player was subjected to racist insults from the Montenegrin striker.
On his official account on the site X, Hannibal Mejbri reacted strongly:
"I will not remain silent about what happened today. I will always call out racism whenever I hear or see it. It's the only way to change as a sport and society... I am a strong person but no one should have to endure such disgusting abuse on the field."
It should be noted that at the start of the second half of the match between Preston and Burnley, the game was delayed for a few minutes due to Mejbri's anger over Osmajic's insults. The Tunisian midfielder then exchanged words with referee Andrew Kitchen to express his displeasure.
