By betting on Abdeslam Ouaddou, Orlando Pirates are aiming high. The South African club is hoping to reclaim the Premier Soccer League crown for the first time since 2012.

The years go by and the story remains the same for the Pirates, who finish each season in the shadow of Mamelodi Sundowns. This has been the case for the past three seasons, with the "Brazilians" always edging them out for second place.

This season, the management has turned to the experience of Abdeslam Ouaddou. The former Moroccan international has coached Mouloudia in Algeria, Loto FC (Benin), AS Vita Club (DR Congo), and Marumo Gallants FC (South Africa) before bringing his expertise to the Pirates.

After a rather sluggish start to the season, with just one win in four matches (one draw, defeats), the team found its cruising speed under the Moroccan's leadership, stringing together six consecutive victories in all competitions without conceding a single goal.

Although he secured the MTN 8 title early in the season, fans expect him to guide the club to the league championship despite fierce competition. Orlando Pirates currently sit in fourth place with 12 points, seven behind leaders Sekhukhune United FC, who have played one more match. There’s every reason for fans to dream.
