Real Madrid Sign Alvaro Carreras: Second Most Expensive Defender in Club History

Real Madrid've officially completed the signing of Alvaro Carreras from Benfica in one of the biggest defensive deals of the 2025 summer transfer window.

Six Year Deal Sealed

The 22 year old Spanish left back has joined Los Blancos on 6 year contract running until the summer of 2031. The Spanish giants agreed to pay 50 million euro with the fee set to be paid in installments rather than lump sum.

Carreras now ranks second on the club’s all time list of most expensive defensive signings, tied with Brazilian center back Eder Militao who also cost 50 million euro when he arrived from FC Porto.
