Real Madrid: Toni Kroos names his worthy successor
Toni Kroos

After leaving Real Madrid for retirement in 2024, Toni Kroos still hasn't found the ideal player to replace him at the Santiago Bernabéu. The German’s eyes are set on Manchester City, where the talent who could succeed him currently plays.

With a hefty sum earned during the Club World Cup, Real Madrid is spending big this summer transfer window. The Spanish club has reportedly identified two more very specific targets: Ibrahima Konaté (Liverpool) and Rodri (Manchester City).

As for the Sky Blues midfielder, it turns out that Merengues legend Toni Kroos puts the Cityzens’ central midfielder at the top of the list to succeed him in Madrid.

“Look at what happened to Manchester City after the injury to a player like Rodri. What happens is that when you’re missing a good central or defensive midfielder, it really shows... when he’s not there. When he is, it’s something you take for granted—you barely notice him, everything is in order, and the forwards can finish matches with ease,” Kroos explained in an interview with El País Semanal.
