Sami Trabelsi's debut with the Carthage Eagles under expert scrutiny

Sami Trabelsi successfully passed his baptism of fire for his second stint at the helm of the Tunisian team, which triumphed on Wednesday against Liberia (1-0) in a match counting for the 5th day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

To comment on Trabelsi's debut with the Carthage Eagles, the editorial team sought the opinion of Tunisian journalist Ahmed Adala, who had this to say.

I think the new coach of Tunisia has successfully met his first challenge, especially since the match was played in very difficult conditions (heat, humidity, Ramadan fasting...)

It is very premature to make a judgment on this new Sami Trabelsi era, even though the Tunisian team showed quite promising signs, particularly in terms of application and tactical mastery.

Next monday's match against Malawi will be, in my opinion, a good test, especially since it will take place in favorable conditions, namely an excellent pitch and after breaking the fast.

The update on group H

Tunisia leads the pack in its group with 13 points, ahead by 6 points of its closest rival, Namibia, which will face Malawi on Thursday.

The North African country aims for a 7th appearance in the World Cup following those in 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018, and 2022.
