Senegal: Me Augustin Senghor runs for a 5th term at the FSF
Me Augustin Senghor has been at the helm of the Senegalese Football Federation since 2009 and has no intention of stepping down—at least for now. He has announced his candidacy for a fifth term as head of the organization.
After a long period of silence regarding his intentions, Me Augustin Senghor, the outgoing president of the Senegalese Football Federation, has officially submitted his candidacy. This was done on Thursday, 26 June 2025, through a close associate, putting an end to months of speculation.
According to our sources, this move was carried out with utmost discretion, perfectly in line with the approach set by Me Senghor himself. It's a strategic choice for a man who can already count on massive support. In fact, nearly 200 clubs have reportedly expressed their backing for Me Augustin Senghor's candidacy, according to a source close to the matter.
However, the road to another presidency won't be without obstacles. The election promises to be fiercely contested, with several challengers determined to shake up the status quo. Among them are Abdoulaye Fall, a former close associate of Senghor; Mady Touré, president of Génération Foot; journalist Aliou Goloko; and Me Moustapha Camara, a sports law attorney.
