The Egyptian Olympic Committee has validated the procedures taken by the Egyptian Football Federation and the Club League regarding the crisis surrounding the match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek, initially scheduled for March 11 as part of the first day of the crowning phase of the Egyptian Football Championship.

In an official statement, the Olympic Committee rejected the complaint from Al-Ahly club against the Football Federation and the Club League, thus confirming the sanctions imposed following their withdrawal from the match against Zamalek.

Olympic Committee decisions rejecting Al-Ahly's complaints

The Olympic Committee's statement specifies:

Referring to the two complaints filed by Al-Ahly club with the Physical Sports Commission on March 15, 2025, and March 16, 2025, concerning Al-Ahly's request to establish a clear mechanism to oblige the League and the Federation to coordinate and unify their competencies, as well as its objection to the use of artificial intelligence for the draw, and its request to annul all decisions taken by the Egyptian Football Federation and the Professional Football Club League against it on March 15, 2025, the Commission of Bodies, Clubs, and Values concluded the following:

  • The competence of the Commission of Bodies, Clubs, and Values of the Egyptian Olympic Committee to examine Al-Ahly's complaints is confirmed, these complaints concerning accusations of non-compliance with regulations and obstacles to the implementation of sports standards. This falls within its competence to verify the correct application of regulations and ethical standards under Article 3 of the Code of Conduct, Ethics, and Sports Values.
  • It was not proven that Al-Ahly club filed an official request to bring in a foreign arbitration body for its match against Zamalek. Indeed, the letter from the Professional Football Club League to the Egyptian Football Federation, dated March 9, 2025, two days before the match, did not mention such an official request, as confirmed in the response note provided by the Egyptian Football Federation.
  • It has been proven that the Professional Football Club League correctly applied the provisions of the competition regulations concerning the abandonment of the match and the sanctions provided in the regulations (Article 17-8).

On this basis, the Commission of Bodies, Clubs, and Values unanimously decided to reject the two complaints filed by Al-Ahly club, considering that the procedures taken by the Professional Football Club League were compliant.
