"There was no hesitation"... Amine Gouiri talks about his choice for Algeria

Algerian international Amine Gouiri opened up about his decision to represent Algeria over France in a statement given to the French press.

A former youth international for France, the Marseille forward switched his sporting nationality from French to Algerian in 2023.

He had the chance to revisit the decision about his international career in an interview with Onze Mondial.

Some things need to be clarified. People talked a lot about my supposed arrival, about my choice; there were many debates. But here's what you should know: the first time I spoke with coach Djamel Belmadi on the phone was in September or October 2023. I joined the national team in November 2023. Before that, everyone was talking, but there was nothing concrete—no one had contacted me.
