Africa will be represented by four clubs at the American event: Espérance de Tunis, Wydad, Al Ahly, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Here are the three big “African” absentees from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Ali Maâloul

The Tunisian international was not selected by the Cairo club for purely technical reasons. The Egyptian football giant decided to turn the page on their flying left-back after many years of loyal service.

Roger Ahoulou

The Togolese international is still recovering from the injury that has kept him sidelined for the past several months. It's a major blow for the Tunisian club, which has lost a player who brought so much energy and presence to their midfield.

Akram Tawfik

The courageous midfielder chose not to renew his contract with Al Ahly, opting instead to embark on a new adventure in Qatar with Al Shamal.
