U-20 AFCON: DRC misses out on three talents

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) team will be without three talents during the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt will host the tournament from April 27 to May 18, 2025, featuring 13 nations.

Held back by their respective clubs, Yohan Mboko, Axel Kayombo, and Oscar Kabwit are expected to miss the junior AFCON.

At 19 years old, the dynamic left winger plays in Italy with Lecce. This season, he participated in 236 matches in Primavera 1 and Coppa Primavera, scoring 2 goals and making only one assist.

What to know about Axel Kayombo?

The 19-year-old winger is with FC Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy on loan from FC Basel. In 27 games this season, he has netted 10 goals and provided 4 assists.

The 19-year-old winger has been held back by his club, TP Mazembe, to focus on the local championship. He has scored 2 goals and provided an assist in 8 CAF Champions League matches.
