UFOA-A U17: Gambia qualify for the U17 AFCON

Gambia secured their place in the final of the UFOA-A U17 tournament and in the next Africa Cup of Nations for the age group with a 3-1 victory over Liberia on Thursday.

A solid run to the final

The Baby Scorpions made a perfect start to their tournament with a 4-1 victory over Sierra Leone, before following it up with a 3-1 win against Mauritania. Held to a 0-0 draw by Senegal on the third matchday of Group A, the Gambians finished second and confirmed their progress in the semi-final, where they beat Liberia 3-1.

An explosive final against Senegal

In the final, Gambia will face Senegal again in a rematch in the group stage of the 2027 U17 AFCON. It will be a clash between two nations that remain unbeaten in this tournament. The Young Lions, two-time defending champions, remain the favourites, but the Baby Scorpions are determined to cause an upset and lift the trophy.
