UFOA A U17: Senegal cruise through to the semi-finals

After thrashing Mauritania 4–0 in their opening match of the UFOA A qualifying tournament for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, Senegal did it again on Thursday at the Lat Dior Stadium in Thiès, inflicting a 5–0 thrashing on Sierra Leone.

A show of strength

The victory was secured as early as the first half with goals from Souleymane Commissaire Faye, a brace from Cheikh Oumar Sy – including a penalty – Amadou Assane Seck and Serigne Aliou Diop late in the game to cap off the goal-scoring spree.

Through to the semi-finals

With six points from two matches, Pape Ibrahima Faye’s side have officially qualified for the semi-finals of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tournament. The group stage will conclude with a crucial clash for top spot against The Gambia, who also maintained a perfect record by beating Mauritania 3–1 on Thursday.
