Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has written his name in gold in the history books of Galatasaray, after leading the Istanbul giants to their 19th Turkish Cup triumph. The Yellow and Reds delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor on Wednesday, May 15, in the final held at Gaziantep Stadium.

The match quickly swung in Galatasaray's favor with Barış Yılmaz opening the scoring in the 5th minute. Then, Victor Osimhen, involved in every attacking move, showed his lethal finishing by netting a decisive brace in the 46th and 63rd minutes.

With this triumph, the club cements its record as the most successful team in Turkish Cup history with 19 trophies, far ahead of Beşiktaş and their 11 titles.

Osimhen, a historic season

With his two goals in the final, Victor Osimhen wraps up a sensational debut season in Turkey. With 35 goals in all competitions, he becomes the highest-scoring foreign player in Galatasaray's history for a single season, erasing the previous record held by Brazilian striker Mario Jardel for over 24 years.

The fans want him to stay

From a new signing to a club icon, Osimhen has won over the supporters with his extraordinary performances. Amid swirling transfer rumors, the "Lions" faithful have launched a large-scale social media campaign, demanding his contract extension and urging him to continue his adventure in Istanbul.
