World Cup 2026 - France: Didier Deschamps delivers a fiery response!

As the 2026 World Cup approaches, Didier Deschamps has sent a powerful message to everyone already picturing France in the final.

Just days before heading to the United States for the 2026 World Cup, Didier Deschamps moved to temper the growing excitement around the French national team. The Les Bleus boss is refusing to let his squad be projected straight into the tournament's final stages.

At a press conference, the French tactician made his position crystal clear:

"People already see us on July 19, and I don't like that. We've got three opponents waiting for us in the group stage. Sure, we're among the best teams, but I know all too well that there are crucial steps before thinking about the top. We'll do everything to make sure we're ready when it counts."

After finishing as runners-up in 2022—losing to Argentina on penalties—and winning the world title in 2018, France enters this edition with sky-high ambitions. Les Bleus will compete in Group I alongside Senegal, Iraq, and Norway. Deschamps also underlined the magnitude of the challenge ahead:

"The World Cup—there's nothing more beautiful, nothing more intense. We'll give everything to go as far as we possibly can."
