France national team: salary, Diallo shares insight about Zinédine Zidane
Yesterday, Zinédine Zidane was officially announced as the new head coach of the France national team.
Long before that, Zinédine Zidane had already surprised Phillipe Diallo. In fact, during discussions with the president of the French Football Federation, the former Real Madrid coach never prioritized money.
"His salary? Honestly, it wasn't about the money. I met Zidane in February 2025. We didn't talk about money. We talked about motivation, about a federation that wants the French team to win, and about a player who dreams in blue. And we didn't discuss money," the FFF chief revealed on France Inter.
According to sources, Zidane will earn 300,000 euros per month on the French bench, though his monthly salary could rise to 450,000 euros with bonuses.
Zidane quickly convinced Philippe Diallo
During yesterday's press conference, the FFF president revealed that this outcome was the result of 18 months of talks with the former Real Madrid manager.
"Since February 2025, I met with Zinédine Zidane and reached out to offer him the role of leading our French national team. Since then, we've met several times to lay the groundwork for his arrival. It was a meeting of two ambitions. One, because Zinédine is one of the legends of French football and had made it clear that one of his dreams was to manage the national team. On the Federation's side, there was a real desire to bring in someone with the aura, expertise, and the heart of our fans to lead one of the world's best teams," Diallo stated.
