World Cup 2026 qualifiers: 5 African stars hit by the FIFA virus

The FIFA virus is spreading just days before the big return of African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Several national teams, notably Senegal, will be without their key players due to injuries.

Here are 5 African stars who have been struck by the FIFA virus

Nicolas Jackson (Senegal):

After suffering a hamstring injury, the Chelsea striker is expected to return to competition following this March international break.

Zambo Anguissa (Cameroon):

The Cameroonian midfielder is also suffering from a muscle injury sustained with Napoli. His return is expected in early April.

Ghanem Saiss (Morocco):

The captain of the Atlas Lions seriously injured his ankle during a training session with his club Al-Sadd. Unless a miracle occurs, he is unlikely to play again this 2025-2026 season.

Axel Tuanzebe (DRC):

Injured in the thigh with his club Ipswich Town, he will miss the next two matches of the Leopards in the World Cup qualifiers. He is expected to be back on his feet by April.

Habib Diarra (Senegal):

The brave Strasbourg midfielder is suffering from an ankle injury that will sideline him for a few weeks.
