Wydad Casablanca: Josef Zinnbauer to succeed Amine Benhachem?
Wydad Athletic Club could soon undergo another change on the bench. This decision comes in the wake of a disappointing Club World Cup campaign, marked by three defeats in as many matches.
According to information from Al-Akhbar newspaper, club president Hicham Ait-Menna is considering dismissing Amine Benhachem. Initially appointed after the departure of South African coach Rulani Mokwena, Benhachem could be reassigned to his previous role as sporting director—a position he already held during Mokwena's tenure at the club.
To replace him, Wydad's management have reportedly identified Josef Zinnbauer as their top target. Currently in charge of JS Kabylie (Algeria), the German tactician knows Moroccan football well, having coached Raja Casablanca during the 2023/24 season, which he capped off with a league and cup double. According to the Moroccan press, Josef Zinnbauer offers the ideal profile: strong knowledge of the domestic league, recent and successful experience, and a tactical approach that appeals to Wydad's leadership. This is a developing story to watch in the coming days.
