Xanti Pupuma sets record straight on Milford transfer policy
Interview
Milford FC head coach Xanti Pupuma has shrugged off the notion that the KwaZulu-Natal outfit is a selling team, having recently sanctioned the sale of Bulelani Sigomoshe to Orlando Pirates.
The Stallions have had an impressive start to life in the Betway Premiership as they are in fourth place with 15 points accumulated after registering four wins, three draws, and two defeats in nine outings.
Notably, the defeats came at the hands of defending champions Pirates at the Amstel Arena and log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium - a testament to their swift adaptation to topflight football.
With Milford enjoying a fairytale run, there are question marks on whether they will be able to keep their prized assets away from the big teams, but Pupuma insists they are not a selling team, although open to departures.
“I don't know what a selling team is, but if a better team approaches us for a boy that we have and we feel that it is better for the boy, for me more importantly the situation needs to be better for the player,” said the Milford boss.
"I know where some of these boys are coming from and if we feel that we cannot provide such an environment for him, we will consider the offer, not necessarily being a selling team.
"But we are not going to hold anyone back if somebody comes along, and it has to be good for the player, that is the most important thing for me.
Milford, meanwhile, are set to face reigning champions Pirates in the Carling Knockout Cup round of 16 away from home on Tuesday, before hosting Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership on Saturday, 31 October.
