Como: Cesc Fàbregas defends Michael Carrick at Man Utd!

Cesc Fabregas was clearly unhappy when the topic of the Manchester United managerial position came up. The Como boss was asked about rumours suggesting he could step in for Michael Carrick, and he wanted nothing to do with the question.

Cesc Fàbregas does not want to listen to rumors

In fact, he felt it was disrespectful toward a fellow coach. According to Polymarket Sports, the Spaniard pushed back firmly, defending Carrick's track record both as a player and as a manager. The exchange happened as pressure continues to build on the United boss after a rough start to the season. Notably, Fabregas never confirmed any offer from the English club, nor did he say whether talks with its representatives had taken place.

What gives this confrontation an extra layer of intrigue is the timing. Fabregas and Carrick are set to meet on October 21, when Como welcome Manchester United in the Champions League. Both sides sit on three points after their first two matches, though their domestic fortunes could hardly be more different.

United, for their part, have now gone six competitive games without a win and find themselves 13th in the Premier League. Talk of emergency board meetings and potential replacements has only turned up the heat on Carrick's position, with several seasoned coaches already being mentioned as possible successors.

Fabregas, by contrast, has been making waves in Italy. Como marked their Champions League debut with a 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig and followed that up with a 3-1 win against Fiorentina in Serie A. Those results have only enhanced the Spaniard's coaching credentials, yet his latest remarks make one thing perfectly clear: he has no intention of publicly fueling speculation at Carrick's expense.
