Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes' future already decided?
Manchester United intend to continue their relationship with Bruno Fernandes, but his future remains to be clarified. According to Football Insider, discussions are ongoing between the Manchester club's directors and the Portuguese attacking midfielder regarding his future.
Extension at the heart of discussions
Since arriving from Sporting Portugal in January 2020, Bruno Fernandes has become one of Manchester United's key players. At 32, the Portuguese remains a major part of the team and plays an important role in its attacking play. His contract runs until the summer of 2027, with an option allowing the club to extend it by an additional year.
The current talks should determine whether the two parties can reach an agreement on a new contract. According to information reported by Football Insider, Manchester United do not plan to let their captain leave and want to continue negotiations. For now, no contract extension has been officially announced.
Performances that underline his importance
Fernandes is coming off a productive season in the Premier League, with nine goals and 21 assists in 35 matches. At the start of the 2026-2027 campaign, he also recorded three goals and one assist in six league appearances.
Fernandes has already been linked with several European clubs, notably AC Milan, Juventus and Galatasaray. But Manchester United's priority appears to be reaching an agreement with their player. If the negotiations fail to produce an agreement, the summer of 2027 could become a decisive deadline for his future at Old Trafford.
