Manchester United: JJ Gabriel is in Barcelona
Temporarily based near Barcelona, JJ Gabriel is working with a private staff as his future away from Manchester United becomes clearer.
The JJ Gabriel situation is entering an important phase. With his departure from Manchester United now appearing increasingly likely, the 16-year-old English forward is preparing for the next stage of his career in Castelldefels, near Barcelona.
According to Sport, the player trains every morning at facilities reserved for him, accompanied by a staff of seven to eight people responsible for overseeing his physical preparation, nutrition and recovery. It is a way for him to stay ready while he considers his various options.
Barรงa, Real Madrid and PSG keeping a close eye
FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all monitoring his situation. Gabriel is also familiar with the Catalan region, having travelled to Castelldefels since he was eight years old. He has already visited Barรงaโs facilities several times and has been photographed with Lamine Yamal.
According to the Catalan press, the playerโs entourage believes that Barcelona are pushing to sign him, although no formal offer has yet been made and discussions with his representative are said to have remained limited so far.
A tense split with Manchester United
JJ Gabrielโs situation at Manchester United has deteriorated in recent weeks. The young talent had asked to leave the club, frustrated by his lack of prospects with the first team. His entourage also believes that he needs to develop in an environment that will allow him to train alongside the best players in order to accelerate his progress.
Gabriel had even requested the cancellation of his registration with the Red Devils, but Manchester United were unwilling to release him easily. The player subsequently stopped training with the club, despite the esteem in which Michael Carrick held him and his involvement with the senior players during pre-season.
His final decision is now expected in the coming days. With several European giants in the running, the young Englishmanโs choice could quickly become one of the most closely followed stories in the young-talent transfer market.
